Blood Work
Warner Bros. has announced the DVD release for Clint Eastwood's aged detective flick Blood Work. Set for release on December 27th Blood Work will be released in a separate Widescreen and Full Screen editions and feature: A making of feature, and a conversation in Spanish with Clint Eastwood, Wanda De Jesus and Paul Rodriguez (which will probably be more entertaining than the movie!). There has been plenty of rap crossover onto the silver screen during the last twenty years but no movie has been as true to the tenets of old-school hip-hop as Charlie Ahearn's Wild
Style (1983). Thankfully, Rhino has released this classic on DVD with a terrific commentary track from Ahearn and one of the film's prime movers Fab 5
Freddy. Cinema
Gotham was happy to review this welcome release.
This week The DVD Savant takes a look at two Artisan's Collectors' Editons" John Ford's
The Quiet Man and Gary Cooper in High Noon, A.D. Vision's
Daimajin Trilogy with three films for the price of

Zulu, MGM's
How to Murder Your Wife and The Big Knife. Also not to be missed are Savant's reviews of The Alec Guinness Collection and

Cinema Gotham: The Education of Sonny Carson
Some films, no matter how
worthwhile, just get lost in the shuffle of time.
Luckily Michael Campus' The Education of Sonny
Carson is being released to DVD by VCI
Entertainment this month following years of shout-outs
from rappers like Lauryn Hill. Education is an
important and provocative film about race in New York.
Carson was going to help introduce the DVD to the
market himself but in late September he suffered a
serious heart attack that currently has him in a coma.
This week Cinema Gotham reviews
the DVD and talks
with the film's director Michael Campus (who also
directed The Mack) about the film, the gangs it
depicts, and Sonny Carson.

Halloween and Horror movies go together perfectly. As DVD became popular, more and more studios began releasing their catalog of horror movies to the format. DVD Talk writer Phillip Duncan sat down and came up with 13 Scary Movies for Halloween - by no means a complete list or a countdown of favorites, it’s meant as a starting point. So turn off the lights, turn up the sound and enjoy!
