The Story:

Determined social worker Miranda Clark while searching for a kidnapped child stumbles upon the mysterious town of Sammyville nestled in the back woods of Oregon. Desperate to find the child before too much time passes she begins questioning the local residents of the neighboring town. Her inquiries however fall on deaf ears as no one is willing to assist her if it means discussing or going to Sammyville. Enter Cam Sutherland. A drifter raised in Sammyville who is searching for his own answers regarding his troubled youth and the deaths of his parents while they all resided in Sammyville some 20 years ago. Together, they'll journey into this bizarre private community abiding by the laws established by the one they call..."Sammy".

Audio/Video:

The audio is presented in a DD2.0 platform that should have more than adequately conveyed the film's aural content. On the whole, the dialogue is a bit muddied and feels as if a noise reduction platform is in play. While the dialogue is all intelligible, its overall recording level should have been boosted so as to make it an easier listening experience. The video portion iss presented in a full-frame platform that looks more like a second-generation VHS copy than a digital rendering. The resultant images are soft and washed out. Consequently, the audio and video portions of the disc do a fairly poor job in rendering the film's most crucial elements.

Extras:

The extras include a bevy of deleted scenes that actually provided more substance in the way of story development and character impetus than actually ended up in the finished product. Unfortunately they were produced at the same level of quality the main feature was so, watching them was just as tedious as watching the movie itself. The last bits of "extras" selected for the disc are a short behind-the-scenes-featurette that chronicled the "making-of" Sammyville and the film's trailer.

Overall:

This is a very weird film that is based on a very real town with a very real patriarchal leader by the name of Sammy. He actually shows up at the very end of the film with what appear to be "Sammy-ites" from his "trailer park in the woods" town. The most disturbing thing about the film, however, is not the bad acting (which is plentiful) and it's not the poor production values. It's the real Sammy speaking to the viewer at the end of the film. As you watch his invitation to visit the town, your eyes will be glued to his mouth! The need for a Denture adhesive is painfully apparent as his teeth literally move with every word. I mean, his choppers are bouncing about so much, you expect them to land right smack dab in your lap! "Sammyville" is truly a strange film with limited audience interest. I can't really recommend it even for a rental. Simply put, we watch the bad ones so you don't have to. Believe you me, I earned my wings on this one to be sure! Skip It.
