The show centers on a young couple that are thrown together by circumstances out of their control. He's an 18-year-old student with a rare medical condition that causes him to fall asleep at the drop of a hat and she's an intergalactic observer for the Galaxy Police that he stumbled upon at an inopportune moment. He's forced to marry her or he'll disappear. The quirk is that she's his teacher, they must keep the marriage a secret, and they aren't sharing marital bliss (if you catch my drift) as well as one of his fellow students has a crush on him and he doesn't know what to do about it all.

So, if I haven't lost you by now, let's look at the show's dynamics. She has a funny little robot device (marketing gimmick) that controls her space ship, and the two aren't quite sure how to proceed with their marriage. Is it a sham or is it going to blossom into the real deal? Only time will tell as the two face a host of problems, many of which revolve around each other.

8: Long Night:
Kei and Mizuho are still working out their feelings as they start back to school after the summer vacation. Kei gets jealous when Matagu talks about wanting to go out with Mizuho and she, in turn, gets jealous when she finds out that Koishi is in love with her husband. The tangled web gets even more intricate when neither is willing to admit their feelings for one another.

9: Let's End It Now:
Upon finding out that Ichigo (Koichi's friend) has the same disease he does, being subject to stand stills (deep sleeps), and he thinks that any further stress on her might send her into an attack so he moves out of his apt with Mizuho.

10: But…:
Koichi sees Ichigo and Kei together and assumes the worst. Then, when making up, Mizuho sees Kei and Koichi and assumes the worst. The young couple finally accepts their feelings for one another but…

The science fiction aspects of the show had, by this point, all but disappeared and it devolved into yet another romance anime full of various romantic triangles. With only three episodes and a lack of character development, I felt a rating of Rent It was the fairest way to go here. Aside from the problem with the subtitles, the anime looked like it was lower budget with less movement on screen and the same old romance stuff happening every episode. I just hope the next volume picks up the pace a bit.

Picture: The picture was presented in 1.33:1 ratio full frame color. It looked very clear with few, if any, problems. I saw no artifacts, compression problems, or other transfer related issues.

Sound: The audio was presented with a choice between Dolby Digital stereo English or Japanese with English subtitles. I really liked the music track and the Japanese audio was almost as good as the English dub (both were solidly produced). I noticed that the names were switched on the subtitle track that was kind of weird too.

Extras: The extras were a short music video, trailers, textless opening and closing, a design gallery, dvd credits and a double sided dvd cover with an insert.

Final Thoughts: I really want to like the show but as it drifts away from my favorite genre, science fiction, into the syrupy sweet romance genre, and only has three episodes per dvd, the lower quality and other issues start catching up with it. Perhaps this is just the natural slump that many series go through and in the next dvd it'll get better again. My fingers are crossed that this is the case.
